The Best Makeup Foundation For Brides

Having been a bridal hair and makeup artist for over 15 years and a total makeup junkie for even longer, I have tried just about every single foundation available, but, I always seem to come right back to my absolute faves….here they are.  Enjoy!

MAC Face and Body-

I love the shearness of this foundation, plus you can layer it so it will work for 90% or your clients. It gives a nice coverage but does not cover the natural beauty of the skin. I can match probably 80% of my clients with either C2-C3 or C5.

I personally like to put on the foundation with a brush and then dab it in with a makeup sponge but whatever technique works for you, as long as you are getting a fresh, clean application. Remember to only layer foundation where it is most needed.

Makeup Forever HD

For the remaining 10% of my client’s who need or want more coverage, I use Makeup Forever HD Foundation. Just like the MAC Face and Body, Makeup Forever’s colors are yellow based and look gorgeous on every skin type!

With this foundation, I put the initial application on with a brush and then I tend to use a combination of a sponge and my fingers to get a nice, even application.

Chanel Natural Finish Powder

I like to finish both of these foundations off with a gorgeous, silky Chanel Univeral powder.

This natural finish powder comes in only three colors with seem to work with all of my client’s to lightly finish off and set their foundation.

My All Time Favorite Lip Gloss- EVER!!!

I have never been much of a lipstick wearer.  I lean more towards lipgloss or even a tinted lip balm.  So, I was thrilled when I found what has quickly become my all time favorite lip gloss EVER!  Chanel Scintillantes Gloss in #11.  It’s not too thick, not too thin, not too sticky and it is the perfect mix of pink, gold and shimmer.  AND, it’s perfect for a bride either alone or over a lipstick or lipliner.  It’s not cheap at $29.50 but it lasts a long time and is a great way to feel special and splurge on something “designer” without breaking the bank.

Redhead Bridal Makeup

I love doing redhead makeup! Since I love a monochromatic bridal look, I think that redheads definitely look their most gorgeous when their makeup colors highlight their natural skin and hair coloring. Now I don’t mean that you literally use reds on redheads, most redhead’s hair and skin color is more of a gorgeous tawny, copper, orange or peachy color, but along with those colors, I do also love a light red (aka pink) on my redheads. I have included some of my favorite redhead makeup looks, all by Hair Comes the Bride (of course) and my favorite MAC makeup colors for redheads- Enjoy!

My Favorite MAC colors for Gorgeous Redhead Makeup. You really can’t go wrong with any combination of these colors when doing makeup for redheads of all shades.

3 Organic Facial Cleansers Worth Their Price

ByDaily is your source for virtual makeovers, styling tips, fashion trends and beauty advice from expert beauty bloggers from around the world wide web.

If you’ve ever stared at a wall of organic beauty cleansers and just couldn’t pull the trigger to cough up the high prices for these products, you’ve faced what very well could be the single biggest problem in choosing the right daily use cleanser for your face. Yes, the price is high for these organic formulations, but the big question is whether the difference in quality is worth the extra cost. Before dropping down a pile of dollars, you need to know that what you are buying will live up to the hype and give you true facial care at the highest level. While we can’t vouch for every organic product on the market, the following three facial cleansers do indeed live up to the hype and are worth every penny.

One of the lesser known organic products that clearly passed the test was the Purifying Facial Cleanser made by the Dr. Alkaitis company. Created completely from plant-based ingredients and extra vitamins, the concoction is extremely gentle, but still manages to leave the face feeling clean and refreshed. At its base, the Dr. Alkaitis formulation uses a patented mix of certified organic ingredients, including olive, shea, jojoba, coconut, sesame, castor and borage. Added to this base are several other herbs and natural Vitamin A, C, and E complexes that deliver a radiant glow to the skin. The price is definitely high at $64.95 for a 4 fluid ounce bottle, but the upside is that it only takes a few drops per use, meaning that it will last much longer than you think.

Winner of a Green Beauty Bible Award, the Trilogy Cream Cleanser has been the envy of many other organic brands. Coming in at $37.00 for a little less than 7 ounces, the product is much cheaper than competitors and works better for many women. Instead of using raw plant ingredients as the base, the Trilogy product goes in a different direction. Half of the contents are organic oils derived from such plants as rosehip, carrots, and primrose. Being completely organic, there are no sulfates to dry out the skin and it is one of the best options for a woman that needs to make sure her face gets adequate hydration. Taking the ecological stance one step further, Trilogy does not test any of their products on animals and are completely pesticide-free.

Another organic facial cleanser that has been picking up steam in recent times is a product made by the Juice Beauty company. With several celebrity fans, such as Alicia Silverstone, the company is becoming a household name for affordable organic solutions that maximize your money’s worth. This signature Organic Facial Wash is only $22 for 4 ounces and follows the company’s principle of basing all of their products on healthy fruit and vegetable juices. In the case of the facial wash, the main juices are apple, white grape, and aloe varieties, with linseed, chamomile, sunflower, and olive oils to enhance the effectiveness of the wash. Any of these 3 examples could be a great starting point for you to check out organic products that are worth the higher cost.

The Best Proven Face Creams

The Best Proven Face Creams

Some people spend money on expensive shoes or bags; I am a beauty product junky!  I will think twice about splurging on a nice pair of boots or jewelry but I will think nothing of dropping a couple hundred bucks at Sephora.  But, like most women, I always wonder “Which really are the best products?”.

Well, Good Housekeeping recently did an extensive scientific study on 90 face creams to find out which were the best.  They used not just peoples opinions (although that was also taken into consideration) but they also used all kinds of scientific equipment and procedures to test the actual scientific effectiveness of each product.  The testing took 18 months, with 820 women ages 35-85 and used 3000 different tests.  Phew- that is some serious business!!!

Do you want to know what made the list?  Well, I will tell you what is not on the list, not one Chanel product, not one $150 cream made it.  I love a beautiful package and a fancy name BUT mostly, I want products that work!  The eye cream, night cream and anti-aging serum can all be bought at Target!!!  Can you believe it?  When I run out of creams, I am going to forgo my usual Sephora trip and instead make a trip to my local Target store.  Here are the winners, I will keep you posted on my personal experience using them.
